Vish Nandlall is an accomplished CEO with more than twenty years of international management experience.
Presently based in Ottawa, Canada, Vish earned a reputation as a telecommunications visionary via his progressive leadership of multinational firms’ innovation strategy. An expert at building world-class teams, Vish excels at simplifying the complex to reach effective and sustainable solutions.
Vish is currently the Head of Emerging Technologies and Ecosystems at Dell-EMC. He also served as CTO of Australia’s foremost mobile device, home phone, and broadband internet provider. As a key member of the executive leadership team, Vish established an innovation pipeline with a 3-year value of $1 billion AUD. Some key projects included network and IT automation and predictive analytics, Big Data enterprise managed services, and Precision Agriculture Sensors as a Service.
Vish Nandlall provided critical resource in building a design organisation and directly engaging with clients in design thinking studios.
The “Gurrowa” Innovation Lab created an opportunity for customer co-creation processes to thrive. Since it was founded in August 2015, the lab has delivered more than 30 projects across 20 customers and represented more than $100 million AUD. He also launched the firm’s Big Data and Machine Learning Research & Development team. In just 18 months, Vish built a 70-person data science and engineering team that delivered $100M AUD in business process improvements and $10 million AUD in commercial benefit.
Previous to his work in Australia, Vish Nandlall led Ericsson North America as CTO, Head of Strategy and Marketing, where he spearheaded the design of the AT&T 4G LTE network for Ericsson markets. The project rollout from field trials to 75% coverage was just 18 months, culminating in the second largest coverage footprint on the continent. Vish also designed and executed an effective strategy to deliver five different emerging business organisations – Cloud, SDN, OSS/BSS, Video, and Mobile Enterprise. Altogether, they realised an annualised $2 billion in new revenue by 2014, when the North American market revenue was just $9 billion.
Vish has also worked as CTO for Extreme Networks and Nortel Carrier Networks, where he worked his way into the leadership role in ten short years after he began as a XA-Core System Architect.
Vish Nandlall has been published several times and holds multiple patents.
He has been listed by Wireless World as one of their Global 100 Wireless Experts. In 2016, Vish was inducted to the “Knowledge Nation 100” for his contributions to the country’s innovation agenda. Global Telecom Business listed him as one of their “50 CTOs to Watch.”
Vish Nandlall holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, First Division, with a focus in Electrical Engineering, from the University of New Brunswick.
